Two hundred lucky toy nerds got a free limited-edition Golden Ticket Huck Gee Dunny at the Grand Opening of the Dallas Kidrobot Pop Up Store. If you don't know, Kidrobot is the place to be for all of the designer toys and apparel that you could want. Check some video of the event, which was packed and even included an appearance from Erykah Badu.

Many lament the loss of the great Dallas landmark that was the Good Latimer Tunnel. Some exceptional art that was truly representative of the region met its demise to make way for progress in the form of the DART Rail. These shots of the mural-to-be are from Saturday July 25, 2009. Look forward to this weekend, when it looks like the finished product will be ready for the public.
In case you haven't heard, the legendary Dallas venue is set to re-open in about a month. Trees has played host to epic performances from the likes of Nirvana and Beck and with the DART Rail coming to Deep Ellum soon we can only hope the neighborhood will once again thrive. Check out this slide show of the inside of the venue under construction.

For those of you that were looking forward to The Paper Chase show this Saturday at Rubber Gloves in Denton, I'm sorry but I have a classic good news/bad news scenario for you. Paper Chase front man John Congleton has lost his voice and will not be able to perform. The good news? Astronautalis will be replacing them on the bill, which also includes Sarah Jaffe and The Boom Boom Box.

So you know who passed away on November 22? Flint, MI rapper MC Breed died yesterday in his sleep after complications he had been having with his kidneys. On September 5, Breed collapsed while playing pickup basketball and was hospitalized and placed on life support when his kidneys failed. R.I.P. Breed, and remember, there ain't no future in your frontin'.

If you've been involved with the Dallas underground hip-hop scene for a while you probably have heard of Mes the Jive Turkey. After building steam here in D/FW, Mes scored a bit of a nationwide buzz by landing such high profile gigs such as the Vans Warped Tour. Nowadays the Jive Turkey can be found residing in the Los Angeles area, where thankfully he continues to create music. Here's a brand new track from Mes, fresh for the holidays and produced by Picnic Tyme.
