The N. Period

In case you haven’t heard, the legendary Dallas venue is set to re-open in about a month. Trees has played host to epic performances from the likes of Nirvana and Beck and with the DART Rail coming to Deep Ellum soon we can only hope the neighborhood will once again thrive. For those of you that were looking forward to The Paper Chase show this Saturday at Rubber Gloves in Denton, I’m sorry but I have a classic good news/bad news scenario for you. Paper Chase front man John Congleton has lost his voice and will not be able to perform. The good news? Astronautalis will be replacing them on the bill, which also includes Sarah Jaffe and The Boom Boom Box.

Q-Tip, along with Chicago’s The Cool Kids, will be playing at the Dallas House of Blues and it is sure to be a lively affair. And just announced yesterday for all you late-night birds, Tip will be spinning a DJ set at Suite.

Album number two from Info-Red of the Dead Stock Crew and Hypnotic Tunez bumps along with an even more polished version of the witty punchline style that this MC is known for. If you are not familar, Kaleidoscope will surely serve as a thorough introduction to Info-Red’s witty and decisive wordplay.

Protesters on the Marion bridge are being harassed and threatened to be arrested. Keep in mind that these are peaceful protesters, oh yeah and I forgot to say that they’re seated. There’s also reports of tear gas and concussion grenades being deployed at another location. Minnesota law enforcement must have gone batty — did anything like this happen in Denver?

Yay! As of right now, this is the final scheduled North American stop before they hit the UK again for the summer.

Caught these guys at the House of Blues Dallas Saturday night and I must say that they were amazing.  They played an eight-turntable set and each of them had a foot pedal for sampling.  And they played nothing but original 45s.  All of their activities were recorded with cameras…

Radiohead, The N. Period’s selection for top album of 2007, just announced that Dallas will be on their ’08 tour, meaning that there will be just about a decade between their trips to the Big D.   This show should be worth the wait. Cities announced on the U.S. tour include:
